doctrine in I Timothy

Teaching I Timothy 1:4 (application) -- "nor give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which cause disputes rather than godly edification which is in faith." The other day TBN, a good Christian station, had some things that must be pointed out: first they had on Mark Hansen, the author of 'Chicken Soup for The Soul', who outright proclaimed he wrote fables! Also his book is filled with New Age and false teachings!
In addition, the next evening the station had a play titled 'The Legend of St. Valentine'! In both cases this writer is pointing out, they had given way to teaching fables and myths! This writer turned TBN off both evenings because the Bible says we need godly encouragement! What about you? Are fables, myths, and legends edifying your life? They should not be! Oh be careful little eyes what you see and be careful little ears what you hear, for the Father up above is looking down at you!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Note, this writer still thinks TBN is a good Christian station, but we must be careful what people teach! That book 'Chicken Soup' is a big seller! Why???
